Traveling with Kids - 10 Tips and Tricks

My husband and I loves to travel and it didn't stop us when we had our first child.

We had our first born year 2018 and we started to bring him on our travels at 3 months old. We've been with our first son to many different places and countries.

It was different though with our second son as he was born at the height of the pandemic, but we are slowly and carefully going back to traveling.

Here are some tips (based on our experience) on how to travel safely, fun, and effectively when you have babies tagging along:

1. If you are flying domestic or short haul flight choose a morning flight - during this time, they are not cranky and is in a good mood as they have only woken up. For long haul flights, you will want to get a night time flight - so the kids will just be sleeping a big fraction of the time.

2. Bring a lot of snacks - Bring all your children's favorite snack as you don't want to spend your time looking around the location where you're at just to find bread pan and hello pandas.

3. Bring small toys - this is for them to play at the plane, train, or car.

4. Bring their sleeping buddies - this will make it easier for them to sleep at a new bed.

5. If they are still wearing diapers, you can get them when you arrive, this way you can save space on your luggage.

6. Bring a first aid kit - put in there bandaids, alcohol, ointments, paracetamol for kids and adult, small thermometer and oximeter - you'll never know what you might catch when traveling, so better be prepared.

7. Bring a small baby bag with you - this way you can leave the bulky one at the hotel and just carry a small backpack for the kids' stuff when you walk around and go sight seeing.

8. Bring a wagon or a stroller - they will get tired with all the walking and sight-seeing, make sure to bring one, so you don't have to carry them. Strollers/Wagons are included in the plane ticket of the child so you do not have to worry if you have enough kgs for your baggages.

9. Take lots of photos - be sure to capture every moment with your kids, you can show them these memories when they grow up.

10. Lastly, just enjoy. Them being young is fleeting and you will never know until when they would be willing to tag along in your travels, cherish these moments and make every minute of it memorable and happy. 💕

Love,

Karla
